Learn how to find the positives in each day. The best way to live a happier life is to create a daily gratitude practice.
Beginning each day by recognizing your blessings and refusing to take things for granted benefits everyone. Think to yourself: I am alive and I have the power to shape the day ahead of me.
One of my favorite health and fitness Youtubers, Whitney Simmons starts off every single one of her videos by saying "It's a beautiful day to be alive". I love this phrase because it's simple, yet empowering.
We get so caught up in our busy lives that we forget that days can be independent of one another. By that, I mean you don't have to let yesterday's mood overflow into today. Think of it as an opportunity to start anew and live in the moment (as cliché as that sounds). Today is a day that you have never lived through before. Today is a day brimming with opportunity. It is a day that you have the power to control and alter if you so desire.
Altering your daily perspective requires practice and focus. Sometimes I find myself seeping into a bad mood because of small and insignificant things or occurrences. We all let little things affect us, whether it be the crappy weather or the fact that it is a Monday and you have a whole week of work ahead of you. But, where is this mindset getting you? Complaining about it being a Monday isn't going to change the fact that it is Monday. It is only going to make the day go by slower. So what if it's Monday? Find something special about that day - and I guarantee you will think of something because each day is one-of-a-kind. Examples could be:
-The sun is shining today
-The whole family is together tonight for dinner
-My favorite show is on later
-My loved ones are all healthy today
-This morning I made the world's best scrambled eggs
Really, it could be anything and everything that makes this particular day extraordinary.
And if you truly can't find something unique- create something special about the day. Too often we forget that we are the directors of our own lives. You have the power to change the trajectory of this day. Plan a dinner with your friends, prepare a movie night for your family, or look up a recipe for your favorite food and make it - the possibilities are endless! Take charge of your own well-being and I guarantee you will become a more fulfilled person. Isn't this what we all strive for?

Living in the moment also means striving for your dreams and desires. Instead of saying "I wish I could…" or "I want to…", say "I am going to…". For some reason, we like to believe that we don't have time to do the stuff we want to do. Make time for the things that bring you joy! You control your own schedule (besides the time you spend on the clock). Prioritize your own wishes and wants. This is the ultimate form of self-care. Today is the perfect day to do and be who YOU want to be, so what are you waiting for?
